GovGuideNigeria — Nigeria's WhatsApp AI Assistant for Federal Government Services

On 21 May 2026, Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), together with the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), Meta and developer Publica AI, launched GovGuideNigeria, an AI-powered assistant designed to make government information easier to find. Announced by Minister Bosun Tijani, the platform runs on Meta's open-source Llama models and is accessible through WhatsApp and the web.
At launch, GovGuideNigeria provided access to information drawn from more than 35 federal ministries and over 60 government agencies, and it responds in English, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba — the country's most widely spoken languages. The platform's stated aim is to reduce the friction citizens face in finding out which agency handles a given service and what is required to access it.
