Context

Rural Hungary's population is disadvantaged by reduced access to information, support and opportunities. Led by the Regional Public Benefit Association of Telecentres of the South Great Plain since 2006, the programme aims to strengthen digital inclusion of the rural population by developing a local information society and fostering more developed participatory democracy.

Objectives

Develop telecentre professionals capable of leading the development and enactment of local ICT strategies, since even the smallest, most disadvantaged communities need professional ICT staff in their telecentres.

Activities

Provides 22 days of training to telecentre coordinators, funded by €50,000 in private funding, targeting small and micro enterprises, people in remote/disadvantaged communities, trainers/counsellors/coaches, and NGO/volunteer-sector staff.
