The Kuamut Rainforest Conservation Project is Malaysia's first certified nature-based carbon project, protecting 83,381 ha of dipterocarp rainforest in Sabah under Verra VCS and CCB standards and providing habitat for the Bornean orangutan and helmeted hornbill.
The project issued its first Verified Carbon Units in March 2024, reducing about 800,000 tCO2e per year against a 30-year target of 16 Mt CO2e.
