Since 2014, Laboratoria has trained low-income young women in five Latin American countries as coders and data analysts. A World Bank/S4YE case study found 86% of 1,038 tracked graduates got tech jobs earning about double the minimum wage.
Laboratoria trains young women from low-income backgrounds in Peru, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Brazil to become web developers, UX/UI designers and data analysts, addressing the gender gap in Latin America's tech sector.
The six-month bootcamp, founded in Lima in 2014, is highly selective (about 9% of applicants admitted) and is paid for through deferred, income-linked instalments once a graduate is employed.
A World Bank/S4YE 'Digital Jobs for Youth' case study tracked a three-year cohort of 1,038 graduates and found an 86% job-placement rate, with graduates earning roughly double the local minimum wage. Laboratoria's own more recent reporting, cited by ImpactAlpha and Scotiabank, describes placement rates near 85% and income gains of up to 3.7x for graduates who had prior earnings.
The programme's high selectivity (about 9% acceptance) means these outcomes describe a screened group rather than all young women who apply, and the higher income-multiplier figures come from Laboratoria's own communications rather than the independent S4YE evaluation.
