AUD 110.8m, 8-year programme (2012-2020): 170,000+ women helped to access government services; 73,000+ women in grassroots groups; 315 local-government rules changed for women's priorities. DFAT completion evaluation rates contribution to gender equality strong.
MAMPU (Maju Perempuan Indonesia untuk Penanggulangan Kemiskinan) was an eight-year, AUD 110.8 million programme (2012-2020) funded by Australia's DFAT and implemented with Indonesia's Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, working across social-protection access, employment discrimination, migrant labour conditions, maternal health leadership and violence against women.
MAMPU directly assisted over 170,000 people to access government services; more than 3,500 women's groups were established, with over 73,000 women participating between 2014 and 2020; between January 2017 and August 2020, women's groups contributed to 315 local-government regulations addressing women's priorities. DFAT's Activity Completion Report (2020) rates the programme's contribution to women's empowerment as strong.
Programme sustainability is uncertain as it was entirely donor-funded and ended in 2020; evidence of sustained impact post-programme has not yet been independently assessed.
