Context

Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and RMIT University Vietnam launched the "Vietnam National Forum on Education Innovation with AI 2025" on 9 April 2025 at RMIT's Hanoi campus, the first officially sanctioned, nationwide AI-training initiative for K-12 teachers and school administrators in Vietnam.

Objectives

The programme aimed to build foundational AI literacy among K-12 teachers and administrators nationwide, grounding instruction in UNESCO's AI competency framework and the TPACK model for integrating AI into teaching practice.

Activities

From 5 July to 2 August 2025, MOET and RMIT ran a free online training series covering five modules — foundational AI concepts, UNESCO's AI competency framework, the TPACK model, AI-assisted assessment design, and building educational chatbots — delivered through pre-recorded videos and five live Saturday workshops broadcast on Microsoft Teams, YouTube and Facebook.

Results

The programme drew more than 250,000 registrations before the first workshop, over 150,000 simultaneous viewers on YouTube and Facebook during the opening session, and more than 635,000 views of the recorded session. MOET's TEMIS teacher-training system makes the material accessible to more than 1 million registered educators nationwide, and the 250,000+ participation figure was corroborated by independent Vietnamese education press.

Conclusions

The reported figures measure registration, attendance and view counts rather than assessed learning or classroom-practice change, and no independent evaluation of teaching-practice or student impact has been published. A follow-up "Vietnam Education Day with AI" event, including an applications competition and awards ceremony, was planned for December 2025.
