Context

As one of 19 countries in the EU-Council of Europe 'ALL IN: Towards gender balance in sport' joint programme (2018-2019), the Netherlands collected data on women's representation in sports-federation decision-making and pursued gender mainstreaming, addressing women's under-representation in the most powerful positions.

Results

Since 2015, 55% of sports federations acted to recruit more women to decision-making bodies, yet only 8% of presidents (2, in gymnastics and basketball) and 20% of vice-presidents (4) were women.
