Context

Palau's EDCR (Enhancing Disaster and Climate Resilience) project, funded by Japan and implemented by UNDP with the Government of Palau between 2019 and 2021, included a one-day training workshop held in Koror on 10 February 2021 on gender, age and disability-inclusive disaster risk management.

Objectives

To build the capacity of national disaster responders to integrate gender, age, disability and cultural considerations into disaster-risk-management policy and practice.

Activities

A one-day workshop trained 42 Palauan disaster responders (21 women and 21 men) from six government and civil-society bodies, delivered in partnership with the Palau Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the Pacific Community (SPC), and the Omekesang Association of Palau.
