PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) was launched by PM Narendra Modi on 25 March 2015 as a multi-modal ICT platform combining digital data management, videoconferencing and geospatial visualisation for real-time programme monitoring, grievance redressal and project unblocking.
To give the Prime Minister and top officials AI-augmented dashboards aggregating multi-ministry data to surface delay patterns, flag bottlenecks and enable direct accountability, via a monthly 'PRAGATI Day' chaired by the PM.
Agencies upload project details seven days before each session, officials update progress within three days, and PMO staff review five days before. PRAGATI 2.0 (2023) extended the platform to social flagship programmes (Ayushman Bharat) and citizen grievances in banking/insurance; in 2025 the PM asked all states to establish PRAGATI-modelled monitoring platforms.
By the 50th session (31 December 2025), 382 infrastructure mega-projects worth ₹85 lakh crore (~$1 trillion) had been reviewed; of 3,187 identified issues, 2,958 (94%) had been resolved, unblocking long-stalled projects such as the Bogibeel bridge, the Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link, and Navi Mumbai International Airport. An independent December 2024 Oxford Saïd Business School study (Gates Foundation-supported) found PRAGATI had accelerated 340 critical projects worth $205 billion through December 2024.
