Simandou 2040 STEM Teacher Training — Guinea's National Pilot for AI-Ready Science Educators in Conakry

Guinea had no dedicated national programme preparing science teachers to use AI and digital tools in the classroom. Under the 'Simandou 2040' strategy, which ties the country's mining-driven economic transformation to investment in human capital, the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, Technical Education and Professional Training launched a pilot to build a network of STEM master trainers.
Over eight days, 190 teachers from Conakry's 13 communes — 40 mathematics, 50 physics, 50 chemistry and 50 biology teachers — alternated laboratory practicals with training on digital and AI tools, intended to seed a national multiplier network able to train colleagues in turn.
The ministry has also announced plans for an AI chatbot to support baccalaureate candidates. Officials describe the programme as a pilot: expansion to Kindia, Kankan, Boké and N'Zérékoré is contingent on the results, and no outcome data has been published yet.
