LV00Saldus district municipality (Latvia) wanted to raise the qualification of public-school teachers in competence-based education, including in rural-area schools, alongside participation in international events on innovative education technologies and digital-competence development. Saldus municipality formed a consortium with its two largest district schools, Druva Secondary School and Saldus Secondary School.
Improve the qualification of Saldus region teachers to introduce competence-based education in general education schools, including building digital competences and gaining transnational experience.
Eight teachers from the two schools took part in eight planned professional training activities, including structured courses and training events, and two major international events abroad in Scotland and Greece. The project also used the international school-practice exchange platforms www.etwinning.net and www.schooleducationgateway.eu.
The participating teachers are expected to share their acquired knowledge with other schools in the district and elsewhere in Latvia; the project aims to reach the majority of educational staff in Saldus district municipality schools and the education policy makers involved in follow-up and dissemination activities.
Key learning points highlight the transnational character of the project, its focus on teacher training for inclusive education, and its emphasis on improving teaching skills, including digital skills.
