Context

The Technical Development Programme (TTDP) is run by Bahrain's Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) with the Ministry of Labour, targeting Bahrainis aged 21-30 with technical degrees who are registered in the country's Unemployment Insurance System.

Activities

Rather than classroom-only instruction, participants are embedded at iGA for hands-on work on live digital government projects — including the MyGov citizen portal and the eKey 2.0 digital-identity service — with mentorship, task delegation, applied assessments and industry-recognised certifications, taking in roughly 80 Bahrainis per year.

Results

Across its first two cohorts, 143 graduates contributed to more than 10 digital projects, collectively obtaining 295 professional certifications, and nearly 100 graduates went on to secure technical roles across public and private-sector employers. The programme won an HR Innovation Award.
