The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) launched a new phase of its Digital School programme in July 2026, extending the platform's AI-driven personalised learning tools to six African countries — Mauritania, Nigeria, Lesotho, Zambia, Namibia and Angola — as part of a three-year commitment to reach more than 500,000 people.
In Mauritania, the rollout combines new digital learning spaces (100 planned across all six countries), teacher training in modern pedagogical methods, and access to the Digital School's existing AI-adaptive learning modules, which build Personal Learning Plans from each student's performance data and give teachers a 360-degree feedback view. The platform already serves over 850,000 learners in more than 40 countries and delivers content in seven languages.
The July 2026 announcement is a launch, not a completed evaluation: state media (WAM) and independent UAE outlets reported the commitments and infrastructure targets, but no Mauritania-specific enrolment, learning-outcome or teacher-competency data had been published as of the announcement. Mauritania had previously hosted a Digital School stakeholder forum on the future of digital learning, suggesting some prior groundwork ahead of the 2026 expansion.
