Zambia's Ministry of Technology and Science signed an MoU with Cambridge-linked Obrizum Group in March 2026 to pilot AI-powered adaptive learning in secondary schools from mid-April 2026, with planned expansion to TEVET institutions and nationwide if the pilot succeeds.
In March 2026, Zambia's Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Obrizum Group Ltd — a Cambridge, UK-based education-technology company led by CEO Dr Chibeza Agley — to pilot AI-powered adaptive learning tools in Zambia's public education system.
The pilot launched in mid-April 2026, initially targeting secondary-school learners before expanding to Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TEVET) institutions. Obrizum's platform, which has academic ties to the University of Cambridge, adjusts learning content in real time to each student's pace and knowledge gaps. The initiative sits within Zambia's National AI Strategy 2024–2026, which envisions integrating AI tools into secondary education, and Minister Mutati described it as advancing ‘quality learning regardless of geography.’
As of the pilot's launch, neither the Ministry nor Obrizum has published independent evaluation data on student learning outcomes; press coverage documents the partnership, the technology and the rollout plan rather than measured results, and officials have said nationwide expansion depends on the pilot proving successful — a bar not yet demonstrated.
