Innovatia 8.3 is a project for women in the scientific-technological field, run by the University of Santiago de Compostela with the Spanish Women's Institute (Instituto de la Mujer), and partnered with Fundación Ronsel.
The project aims to promote entrepreneurial spirit among women in scientific-technological sectors and to create an intervention model that integrates a gender perspective into knowledge-transfer processes and the creation of technology-based spin-off companies.
Its main activity is preparing a procedures manual for entrepreneurship support staff in university and research-centre Technology Transfer Offices (OTRI), incorporating the gender perspective from service design through to quality evaluation. Innovatia 8.3 also provides specific gender-equality training for OTRI technical staff, generating a work methodology being transferred to other universities and research centres in Spain.
The project disseminates information for women on entrepreneurship in male-dominated scientific and technological sectors, and for companies on promoting women into positions of responsibility. It also produces studies on the situation of women in entrepreneurship and business, with all content and studies published online and freely accessible.
The practice is presented as valuable for its academic work in the area of women in science and technology, its provision of tools and information for women's empowerment, and its open online accessibility, though no independent evaluation data is cited.
