What works in Armenia

Armenia has invested roughly $24 million to expand free after-school engineering and coding labs from a single facility in 2011 to over 600 labs reaching approximately 17,200 students across seven countries, with about 45% of graduates advancing to Armenian universities. The country has made measurable progress on gender representation in parliament, where women's seats rose to 38.3% following implementation of a 30% gender quota for candidate lists in 2021, exceeding the global average of 27.1%. Armenia's National Action Plan to prevent gender-biased sex selection has reduced the sex ratio at birth from 115 boys per 100 girls in 2012 to approximately 109–111 by 2021–2024, though the ratio remains above the natural baseline and gains are reported as fragile. More recently, the State Revenue Committee deployed machine learning to improve tax compliance in 2024, with projections of 15–20% gains pending measurement.
