Context

The Women's Support Center (WSC) in Yerevan is Armenia's only specialised organisation running full-time shelters for domestic-violence survivors, coordinating with ten regional support centres that lack shelters or in-house lawyers of their own.

Results

As of December 2022, WSC had directly served 829 women and children, with 176 in its 24-person-capacity safe houses. Under a UN Trust Fund-supported project from April 2021, it reached close to 800 women and girls including 450 internally displaced people, and recorded a 50% rise in hotline calls during COVID-19 lockdown.

Conclusions

WSC remains the country's only full-shelter provider — a single-point-of-failure risk for a country of Armenia's size; the underlying UN Women evaluation report was not accessible for independent methodological review.
