What works in Brunei

Brunei has pursued digital skills development and entrepreneurship training targeted at underemployed youth and marginalised groups: Go Digital ASEAN — Brunei Darussalam trained 2,500+ people in digital literacy and e-commerce across all four districts, while Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) Brunei graduated 66 women through a business-development curriculum with seed funding awards up to US$3,000 per top graduate since 2021. The country has also scaled digital health infrastructure: BruHealth 5.0 — Brunei's AI-Enabled National Health Platform evolved from a COVID-era contact-tracing app into a national platform with over 500,000 downloads and 63% weekly active users, featuring AI-driven personalised health recommendations. However, no Brunei-specific outcomes for business survival or revenue from the entrepreneurship programme, or clinical effectiveness and equity of access for the health platform's AI features, have been independently verified.
