What works in Mali

Mali has implemented several education and development initiatives with documented results. SWEDD reduced girls' school drop-out rates from 53% to 2% in project areas (2016–19) and raised women's average monthly income from US$5 to US$110, while establishing 15 private midwifery practices and distributing 7,900 bicycles to girls. RobotsMali responded to Mali's 2023 language-policy shift by producing 107 Bambara-language children's books in under a year, reaching over 300 pupils, though there is no independent evaluation yet of literacy-outcome gains. Olympic Forest is restoring degraded woodland across 90 villages in Mali's Kayes region, with 72,505 of approximately 355,000 planned trees planted by March 2023 as part of Africa's Great Green Wall.
