What works in Uganda

Uganda's evidence base spans community health, digital inclusion, refugee empowerment, clean energy entrepreneurship, and agroforestry. SASA! Community Mobilisation achieved a 52% reduction in past-year physical intimate partner violence in Kampala through community activism, while Uganda Rural Household Devices Project reached 10,706 households across 54 districts with solar tablets, of which 33% use the internet daily and two-thirds report income gains. LEAP Programme increased women's representation on Refugee Welfare Committees from 10% (2017) to 48–54% (2022), though independent reporting notes persistent leadership barriers. Additionally, Solar Sister enabled ~2,000 women-run clean-energy businesses reaching 370,000+ people, and Trees for Global Benefits engaged 50,000+ smallholders across 34,000 ha generating US$8.7M in direct farmer payments.
