Description

Ankommen was released in January 2016 by BAMF with the Goethe-Institut, the Federal Employment Agency (BA) and Bayerischer Rundfunk. It covers the asylum procedure, school, vocational training, work, and everyday life and values in Germany, plus a multimedia German course, and works without internet after download. Content is provided in Arabic, English, Farsi, French and German.
In a 2 May 2016 test of twelve beginner German apps, with a focus on Arabic speakers, Stiftung Warentest recommended only two without reservation, Ankommen being one; reviewers praised its content tailored to refugees' daily life and varied exercises, while noting that no app trains free speaking or replaces a language course.
Evidence caveats: the sources reviewed give no official download statistics, learning-outcome evaluation or current maintenance status, so scores reflect only the independent 2016 product test and the documented design.
