Description

Integreat grew out of an Augsburg student project in 2015. Municipalities create and curate local content (registration, health, schools, jobs) in a central editorial system; Tür an Tür – Digitalfabrik provides technical support, training and networking. The app downloads content for offline use and offers multilingual content, including rarer languages and simple language.
Reported figures: the European Commission's migration portal lists several hundred thousand users per year and over 4.5 million page views in 2024, 62% of them in languages other than German. A TUM information-systems page records 52 municipalities in Germany as of August 2019 and a EUR 250,000 Google.org award in July 2018. Funding mixes municipal fees, public grants (e.g. 'Demokratie Leben!') and Google.org; open-source and volunteer contributions reduce cost.
Evidence caveats: the EC page cites user surveys and an academic MIS Quarterly study as positive but no controlled impact figures are published, and transferability outside Germany is not documented in the sources reviewed.
