Belarus's National Statistics Committee Deploys an NLP Chatbot for Respondent Support

Belstat, Belarus's National Statistical Committee, has implemented a virtual assistant built on natural language processing and machine-learning technologies to handle respondent consultations for official statistics. According to First Deputy Chairperson Timofei Zhigarev, the chatbot gives instant answers to typical questions at any time, letting specialists focus on more complex queries.
Belarus presented the tool in June 2025 at a meeting of Commonwealth of Independent States national statistical services in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, alongside broader discussion of digital transformation, metadata standards and data integration across CIS statistical agencies. Both the Belarusian state news agency (BelTA) and Belstat's own site report the same launch and quotes.
No usage volumes, response-time figures, accuracy rates, or independent evaluation of the assistant have been published by Belstat or found in independent reporting.
