Context

HK Unicorn Squad is an Estonian non-profit, initiated in 2018 by entrepreneur and engineer Taavi Kotka, that runs girls-only technology hobby groups for ages 8–14, using practical robotics, engineering and science assignments to build interest and confidence outside co-ed settings.

Activities

The first squad of 17 girls formed in Miiduranna, Viimsi in September 2018; from spring 2019 free educational kits enabled test groups across Estonia, complemented by two courses per school year and a national summer camp mixing teamwork, technical tasks and meetings with female role models.
