Context

Tâmega e Sousa is a regional cluster of 11 municipalities in northern Portugal. ESTG (Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão, Instituto Politécnico do Porto) built a volunteer network to close the region's digital skills gap, in line with Portugal's national Action Plan for Digital Transformation.

Objectives

Train the adult population of Tâmega e Sousa in essential digital skills, demystifying technology use for elderly people, marginalised youth, migrants, people with disabilities, and the unemployed.

Activities

ESTG students who complete a dedicated course and reside in one of the 11 Tâmega e Sousa municipalities volunteer to deliver basic digital-skills training sessions covering tasks such as creating an email account, searching online, video/voice communication, and accessing public digital services.
