Context

SheCode.ai, a women-led coding-education non-profit, and its partner Kryterion Limited launched the 'Digital Africa Corridor' at a high-level roundtable in Abuja on 1 September 2025. As part of it, Cabo Verde's Ministry of Digital Economy formally endorsed SheCode.ai's flagship programme, Code the Future - Cabo Verde Rising.

Objectives

To train more than 500 secondary-school girls across three of Cabo Verde's islands in coding, artificial intelligence and digital-innovation skills, supported by Portuguese-language STEM toolkits, teacher training for the schools involved, and a national youth showcase to close out the cohort.

Activities

Cabo Verde's Secretary of State for Digital Economy, Pedro Nuno Alves Fernandes Lopes, framed the endorsement as proof that African nations can lead their own digital future. A follow-up Nigeria-Cabo Verde Business and Innovation Mission to Praia was scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025 to broaden the partnership into other sectors.

Conclusions

As of the endorsement, this is a launch commitment rather than a completed rollout: no student enrolment, completion or learning-outcome data has yet been published, and the announcement frames the initiative primarily in diplomatic and economic-partnership terms rather than as an evaluated education intervention.
