DK01Copenhagen Capacity (CopCap) is a business foundation and Denmark's official organisation for investment promotion and business development in Greater Copenhagen, operating since 1996 and filing annual reports to the Danish Business Authority.
Its goal is to increase Greater Copenhagen's regional growth and job creation by attracting international talent and foreign companies, particularly in green transition, life science and tech, and by helping startups and established companies expand internationally.
CopCap collaborates with Invest in Denmark and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on marketing investment opportunities through digital campaigns and international conferences, operates under an annual performance contract and 3-year strategy, and screens attracted companies against the EU Taxonomy and Corporate Due Diligence Directive. In 2023 it targeted 10 sustainable investments, half of its overall 20-investment goal. It also runs the Greater Copenhagen Career Portal, Project Onboard Denmark, business quickguides for hiring international talent, and the 14-city Choose Europe FDI collaboration.
In 2022, CopCap's efforts contributed to 1,843 jobs created or maintained and DKK 7.5 billion in increased GDP — a 24% rise from 2021, then a record. It recorded 31 foreign investments, 16 of them in sustainability, with 84% falling within its focus areas. Its Microbiome Signature Project saw 27 companies and research groups hire 66 international life-science and microbiome researchers and specialists. The 2019–2022 Talent to Denmark Project met all its goals, attracting more than 200 international employees, retaining more than 400 international students, and engaging more than 450 companies and over 16,000 applicants across its events.
Nearly 30 years of continuous operation and year-on-year reported gains position CopCap as an established model for regional investment and talent-attraction agencies, though the figures come from the organisation's own annual reporting rather than an independent evaluation.
