Context

Day of AI Latvia is the Latvian national chapter of MIT RAISE's global 'Day of AI' initiative, led by RTU Riga Business School since an inaugural 2024 event, with support from Foundation AUGT, Swedbank Latvia and Code4Europe project grants.

Objectives

The programme aims to give students aged 12-17 free, curriculum-adapted lessons on how AI systems are designed, why they sometimes fail, and how to use them safely, ethically and responsibly.

Activities

The 17 March 2026 national day combined online classes with class-based practical exercises across all regions of Latvia, with top-performing teams competing for prizes.

Results

The third national edition reached 280 schools and over 27,500 students, within a global Day of AI programme that has run since 2021 across more than 170 countries, reaching over 1.5 million students and 50,000 educators.
