Context

Since 2017 the USAID-funded Okard project has supported community-based inclusive development for people with disabilities in Laos, implemented by World Education Inc. and Humanity & Inclusion with Lao government ministries.

Activities

Case managers built a digital needs-assessment tool on the KoBoCollect platform, screening seven domains and auto-generating an individualised action plan; the pilot took 45-90 minutes to administer and was refined through field testing.

Results

By October 2023, programme-level reporting cites over 29,000 vulnerable people reached, 8,788 supported with health and rehabilitation services, nearly 13,000 assistive products distributed, and 175+ people with disabilities helped into employment.

Conclusions

These figures describe the wider CBID programme rather than the digital tool's users specifically, since no source isolates a separate count for the tool.
