Context
A local initiative in the rural municipality of Janów, Poland, led by the association Stowarzyszenie "Partnerstwo Północnej Jury", set up digital-skills workshops for residents aged 50 and over to address a documented digital exclusion gap in the rural community.
Objectives
To equip older rural residents with practical digital skills - finding information online, searching for job offers, making electronic payments and online purchases, and sending emails - so they can use everyday online services.
Activities
Workshops were delivered in local community centres and public libraries between January 2017 and December 2018, reaching 90 participants, with trainers, libraries and cultural centres acting as delivery partners; sessions also exposed participants to related cultural programming at the venues.
Results
Based on participant statements collected in 2019 (including video testimony), attendees reported that they had started using electronic services independently and were keeping in email contact with family members and the organisers; no formal outcome evaluation was carried out.
