Digital Natives Forum is an educational program designed to promote among students a reflection on the use they make of cell phones, computers and tablets, websites, social networks, applications, electronic games and on other topics related to the current state of emerging technologies.
Educational materials enable teachers to work with students on content related to the responsible use of cell phones, digital devices, social networks and electronic games: from cyberbullying to sexist language, from netiquette to sexting, grooming or dangerous online communities, false news or prevention of online gambling addiction.
In this way, it is intended to encourage the exchange of opinions, promote the dissemination of knowledge, improve the training of students and collect data to design educational initiatives to promote the development of positive behaviours among students, know the issues that interest them in this area, improve the educational use of these new realities, detect unsuitable behaviour and prevent possible risk situations.
The educational materials of the program are downloadable and ready to use directly in the classroom. In general, each of them consists of a classroom presentation, a teacher's guide and a pdf to send to families, with a selection of interesting resources. FND includes activities for tutoring, with CyberMentors and others for the family.
226 centres participate in the tutoring activities, 77 in the activities for students CyberMentors and 72 in training activities for families.
All publicly-funded, pre-university centres in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura can participate in FND.
Context: With digital technology becomes more prevalent in young peoples lives, their risk of exposure to inappropriate content, or of behaving inappropriately themselves is growing. It is a fundamental that they are educated in the safe use of their digital devices.
