Description

Digitálni seniori ('Digital Seniors') is Component 17 (Digital Slovakia), Investment 7 of Slovakia's EU-funded Recovery and Resilience Plan, run by the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization. It targets citizens aged 65+ and health-disadvantaged adults aged 18+.
Training consists of five structured sessions, delivered locally in all regions so participants need not travel, covering internet basics, e-mail, online safety, e-services and internet banking. Successful graduates receive a tablet (latest procurement: 15,500 units at about EUR 170 each) with a SIM and 65 GB of prepaid data.
The ministry reported on 25 June 2026 that more than 100,000 people had completed courses against a target of about 100,440; average age 72, about 6,000 participants aged 80+, women almost two-thirds of graduates. Reported satisfaction exceeded 92% (98% in the pilot of 1,400+ participants). About 30,000 seniors remain unserved.
Caveats: published results are outputs and satisfaction surveys by the programme owner; no independent evaluation of sustained use, skills gains or fraud reduction was found, and the tablet incentive is financed by one-off recovery funds, so continuity beyond 2026 is undecided.
