Dirección de Transferencia de Tecnología (DTT) — Tecnológico de Monterrey

The Dirección de Transferencia de Tecnología (DTT) is Tecnológico de Monterrey's technology-transfer office, created in 2010 as the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) and elevated to a full institutional directorate in 2022. Based in Monterrey, Mexico, it protects, values and commercializes intellectual property generated across the Tec's campuses, licensing it to industry or spinning it into new science-and-technology-based ventures.

Between 2005 and 2020 the office supported 370 patent applications, of which 150 were granted by Mexico's Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial (IMPI) and 49 were transferred to industry partners. To date it has helped launch 28 spin-off companies, which together generate an estimated 70-80 licensing agreements — roughly 2.5-3 licenses per spin-off on average. Ventures supported include Global Nano Additives (eco-friendly industrial lubricants), Forma Foods (lab-grown meat) and Naddon (nanoparticle drug-encapsulation technology).
