EVA Facial Mouse turns the front-facing camera of a standard Android device into a hands-free pointing device that tracks head movement to move an on-screen cursor. Released in February 2016 as an Android port of developer César Mauri's earlier desktop tool eViacam, it was funded by Fundación Vodafone España and shaped through direct collaboration with ASPACE Confederación and six of its member associations, whose members and staff tested prototypes and fed back requirements during development.
Results
The app has accumulated over 20,000 Google Play ratings averaging 8.7/10, and sits within Fundación Vodafone España's wider "Conectados por la Accesibilidad" programme, which reports over 57,000 downloads of its accessible apps and more than 2,500 people with disabilities as direct, active users of its digital tools.
Conclusions
The app remains free, open-source (GPL v3) and actively maintained via Google Play and a public GitHub repository. Known limitations include incompatibility with other apps that use the camera simultaneously, and reduced keyboard compatibility on Android versions before 5.1.
