Context

The Gendered Landscape Program is an integrated action plan developed by Barcelona Activa and Barcelona City Council, through an URBACT Local Group, to tackle gender inequalities in Barcelona's entrepreneurial ecosystem and support the goal of making the city the best place in Europe for women to start a business. Over two years of monthly meetings, the coordination team co-created an action plan structured around 4 objectives, 12 interventions and 26 potential actions, of which 18 were adopted into a three-year implementation plan (2022-2025). It is funded through URBACT, Horizon Europe and Next-Gen funds, state programmes, and private foundations including Repsol, Telefónica, Acciona, Santander and La Caixa.

Results

The programme's highest single grant, 'Impulsem el que fas', reached €200,000. Reported activities include the launch of Lidera Space, an 'Autonom Llaçat' grant scheme prioritising women entrepreneurs, a relaunched Management Development Programme for women (PD3) with a linked job pool, mandatory gender-perspective training for all LIDERA suppliers, and a STEAM mentoring toolkit for women students. The original Gendered Landscape action-planning model, first developed in Umeå, Sweden, has since been transferred to 5 other EU cities.
