Description

On 29 November 2023, ahead of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Indonesia's GoTo Group added colour-vision-deficiency display modes across its ride-hailing app Gojek, e-commerce platform Tokopedia and fintech app GoPay. Gojek introduced a high-contrast mode for total colour blindness (monochromacy); Tokopedia added settings for red-green and blue-yellow deficiencies; GoPay was redesigned with bright and dark modes meeting WCAG 2.1 AAA contrast standards. The rollout sits under GoTo's 'Zero Barriers' pillar of its 'Three Zeros' sustainability programme, and Gojek's high-contrast mode was subsequently extended to its Vietnam and Singapore operations.

GoTo's Chief Technology Officer Herman Widjaja and Head of Sustainability Tanah Sullivan described the feature in the company's own press release and to The Jakarta Post, which also quoted a colour-blind user, Fardhan Ramzy, saying the changes made 'online transactions more comfortable and easy.'

No independent usage data, user-testing methodology, or third-party evaluation of the feature's real-world impact was found beyond the company's press release, one reprinted news article, and a single anecdotal customer quote — evidence here rests on the company's own account of features it shipped to production, not on measured outcomes.
