FRY2This five-country European school partnership (Lycée professionnel La Trinité in Martinique, France; Escola Secundária de Loulé, Portugal; Pärnu Ühisgümnaasiumi, Estonia; Krško-Sevnica School Center, Slovenia; and Liceo Scientifico e Linguistico 'Principe Umberto di Savoia', Italy) developed digital trail tools for hiking, footpaths, cycling and disabled-accessible routes, combining natural and historical heritage with educational goals and curricular subjects such as flora, fauna, geology, ecology and cultural history.
The project allowed teachers, educators and the general public to use tablets and smartphones as electronic guides for educational, recreational, tourist and sport purposes along trails, aiming to motivate students — particularly those at risk of dropping out — by connecting theoretical school subjects with concrete, real-world learning situations, developing ICT and communication skills in foreign languages, and promoting inclusion and collaborative work across different educational routes, social backgrounds and countries. Teachers can add new trails, making the tool extensible over time.
