Context

Ireland's second National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (2015-2018) sets out the Government of Ireland's commitments to strengthen women's leadership and participation in decision-making in conflict and post-conflict contexts, incorporate a gender perspective into Ireland's humanitarian, development and peacekeeping engagement, and address gender-based violence.

Objectives

The plan aims to strengthen women's leadership and participation in conflict/post-conflict decision-making, mainstream a gender perspective across Ireland's overseas humanitarian, development, peacekeeping and governance work, bolster protection from and prevention of gender-based violence, and use Ireland's participation in global/regional fora to champion implementation of the Women, Peace and Security resolutions.
