Context

Tajikistan, one of Central Asia's smaller economies, launched IT Park Dushanbe on 7 April 2025 as its first fully-fledged national innovation centre, opened during ICT Week 2025. The park is overseen by the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Objectives

The park aims to grow Tajikistan's IT, fintech and software sector by offering resident companies substantial tax relief and by building domestic digital skills.

Activities

Resident IT, fintech and software companies receive a 0% tax rate on profits, VAT, dividends and local taxes (aside from a 6% personal income tax and 1% social tax), plus duty-free import of digital equipment. The park has also launched an "AI School" to address a shortage of qualified digital specialists and runs "Woman in Tech" events to widen female participation in the sector.

Results

One year in, the park reported more than 70 resident companies developing products and expanding into international markets, with IT service exports reaching 23 million somoni (roughly US$2.1 million) in 2025.

Conclusions

The park sits inside a wider regional push: in December 2025 Tajikistan's IT Park signed a cooperation agreement with the IT parks of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, and a second Dushanbe IT-hub building, backed by South Korean partners, broke ground in mid-2026. As a newly opened institution, its longer-term sustainability and true economic multiplier still rest mainly on the operator's own first-year figures and have not yet been independently audited.
