Kuwait's National AI Teacher Training Programme with Google -- Building AI Literacy Across the Education Workforce

Kuwait's Ministry of Education has launched a multi-year national initiative to integrate AI into the education system through a strategic cooperation agreement with Google for Education, aiming to enhance teaching practice and staff efficiency while promoting responsible AI use.

The project runs across the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic years and targets around 40,000 teachers nationwide. Implementation follows a phased plan overseen by Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Hamad Al-Hamad: phase one trained 54 technical supervisors and department heads as trainers, phase two trained 3,488 teachers (reported April 2026), and phase three will expand to all secondary-school teachers and department heads across subjects. Training covers Google-developed tools including NotebookLM and Gemini.

A related digital-learning pilot with Google, also reported by Kuwait Times, completed preliminary training for participating secondary-school teachers ahead of a planned pilot beginning in September 2026 and running six months, in which participating schools receive roughly 150 Chromebook devices and activated Google education platforms to assess the impact of digital tools on the educational process.

Public reporting to date (KUNA via Kuwait Times, and Arab Times) documents training scale and rollout milestones, but no independent evaluation of teaching-practice change or student outcomes has yet been published; the programme should be read as an early/mid-implementation case rather than a proven-impact one.
