At a February 2025 school science fair in Bangui, a Central African Republic secondary student built "IACG," an interactive AI quiz-tutor, while classmates built AI-assisted robots — a rare grassroots AI-literacy showcase in one of the world's least digitally connected countries.
In February 2025, during Cultural Week celebrations at New Tech Institut, a private secondary school in Bangui's PK4 district, tenth-grade (2nde S) students presented self-built artificial-intelligence and robotics projects to an audience of several hundred students, teachers, parents and local officials.
Student Espérancia Bezo developed "IACG" (Intelligence Artificielle de Culture Générale), software built in Visual Studio that functions as an interactive AI tutor: it poses multiple-choice general-knowledge questions, evaluates answers and awards points, giving students self-paced practice outside formal classroom instruction. Classmates in the same cohort built AI-assisted robots, including one named "Exaucia," intended to support environmental and public-health data-collection tasks.
This is a single school's student-innovation showcase rather than an institutional or government-adopted programme: no independent evaluation of learning outcomes, user numbers, or sustained use of IACG beyond the presentation event has been published, and the software remains a student prototype. Its significance lies in demonstrating that AI-literacy education is reaching secondary students in a country with very limited digital infrastructure and almost no prior presence in AI-in-education literature — homegrown, teacher-supported AI skill-building happening outside any donor-funded programme.
