Description

Launched in 2017 under Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives and led by the Dubai Future Foundation in partnership with the U.S. online-education platform Udacity, the One Million Arab Coders Initiative offered free digital-skills courses covering software development, data science, AI/ML, and cloud computing to young people across the Arab world.
By the closing ceremony in May 2022, organisers reported that participants from 80 countries had completed 5 million cumulative study hours across 76,000 training workshops, producing 100,000 graduation projects; 1,500 scholarships were awarded to outstanding students over the programme's life. A closing "coding challenge," judged by a jury of regional tech executives, distributed further prizes including a $1 million grand prize, five $50,000 project awards and four $25,000 trainer awards.
The reported figures are self-published by the organisers and Dubai government media channels; no independent third-party evaluation of learning outcomes, job placement, or long-term skills retention has been published, so the initiative's headline reach numbers should be read as programme-reported rather than externally verified.
