Orange Digital Center Guinée — Free Digital Skills and FabLab Hub in Conakry

Orange Digital Center Guinee opened in Conakry in 2022 as the 13th node of Orange's pan-African and Middle Eastern network of free digital-skills hubs, developed jointly with German development cooperation (GIZ, on behalf of BMZ, through the Invest for Jobs / develoPPP programmes).

The 600 sqm centre bundles a coding school, a 'FabLab Solidaire' workshop with 3D printers, laser cutters and CNC equipment, the Orange Fab startup accelerator, and access to Orange Ventures Africa & Middle East, targeting unemployed and underqualified youth as well as university students.

Orange Guinee's own 2024 CSR report states the centre trained 6,000 young people in 2024, 30% of them women, and recorded over 600 socio-professional placements. Across the wider 14-country network, GIZ's Invest for Jobs programme reports over 38,000 young people trained and more than 4,600 placed in internships, jobs or their own IT businesses between 2019 and 2023 - figures for the network as a whole, not Guinea specifically, since Guinea joined only in 2022.

The Guinea-specific figures come from the operator's own CSR reporting, corroborated by local press relay rather than an independent audit, and the definition of 'socio-professional insertion' spans internships, permanent jobs and self-employment without a clear breakdown. As a corporate-donor initiative, its continuity depends on Orange and GIZ/BMZ maintaining funding rather than being embedded in Guinean government budgets.
