Orange Digital Center Tunisia – Coding School, FabLab & Youth Employment Hub

Orange Digital Center Tunisia opened in Tunis on 25 April 2019, part of Orange Group's network of digital centres across Africa and the Middle East, and built on Orange's existing Coding School, which had already trained 16,000 young Tunisians by launch.

The centre combines a Coding School, a FabLab Solidaire, the Orange Fab startup accelerator and Orange Digital Ventures Africa to build digital skills and channel young Tunisians into employment and entrepreneurship.

From 2019 the centre received co-financing from Germany's GIZ under the BMZ-funded 'Invest for Jobs' special initiative (through 2023), which tracked results across the wider six-country Orange Digital Center network.

GIZ's donor results framework recorded cumulative Tunisia job outcomes rising from 278 people employed by end-2020, to 685 by end-2021, to 1,387 by end-2022 (30% women), with 3,286 people trained cumulatively by end-2021. Across the six-country network, more than 38,000 young people were trained and over 4,600 found paid jobs, internships or started businesses between 2019 and 2023.

Germany's Invest for Jobs co-financing ended in 2023 and no Tunisia-specific results after that date were located, so continuity now depends on Orange's own CSR budget; the gap between the headline 'trained' figures (tens of thousands) and verified 'found paid work' figures (about 1,400 in Tunisia) reflects the difference between training reach and demonstrated employment outcome.
