Repat Armenia Foundation

Repat Armenia Foundation was founded in Yerevan in August 2012 by twelve diaspora Armenians and repatriates, and has been funded since 2019 primarily by the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation. It supports diaspora Armenians who want to relocate to and integrate in Armenia, including many tech and business professionals, through personalised consultations, a jobs platform (staff.am), an 'Armenia Works 4U' employment-support programme, community events such as its 'Imagine Armenia' forums, Armenian-language courses, and a health insurance package for community members.

Per Armenia's state news agency ARMENPRESS (February 2023), Repat Armenia's 2022 activity included over 400 personal employment consultations, 35 integration events with roughly 650 combined participants, 148 medical-insurance subscribers and 470 new online-membership sign-ups. A 2021-2022 pilot employment-support programme for Armenians relocating from Lebanon, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus moved 58 participants to Armenia, of whom 48 remained resident and employed or self-employed. The foundation's community has grown to over 12,000 members across more than a decade of operation.

A peer-reviewed study in the Central and Eastern European Migration Review (Macková & Harmáček, 2019) names Repat Armenia among organisations supporting skilled returnees, and — based on interviews and a 146-person survey — finds that of roughly 65,000 people who returned to Armenia since the early 1990s, only about 35,000 remained long-term, with employment and economic conditions cited by 52% of survey respondents as the primary reintegration barrier. Independent Armenian outlet EVN Report notes that much of the recent surge in Armenian repatriation has been driven by regional shocks — the 2020 Artsakh war and the 2022 Russia-Ukraine war pushing ethnic Armenians and Russian tech workers to relocate — rather than by NGO programming alone. Armenia's IT workforce has grown roughly fourfold to around 44,000 professionals (per Crunchbase/EVN Report reporting), and includes some repatriate-founded firms, but no independent source quantifies a causal link between Repat Armenia's activities specifically and this sector-wide growth.
