A six-month Samsung-funded programme at Lerotholi Polytechnic in Maseru trains Lesotho youth in coding, AI-enabled software, IoT and Big Data; by its third cohort in November 2025, 145 students had graduated cumulatively, with 14 in the AI track.
The Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) is a corporate social-responsibility programme launched by Samsung Electronics in partnership with Lerotholi Polytechnic in Maseru, Lesotho, in 2023, later extended to the National University of Lesotho. The six-month course trains young people in coding and programming (Python), AI-enabled software development, the Internet of Things and Big Data, aiming to build Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) skills and improve graduates' employability.
By its third cohort, marked at a graduation ceremony on 14 November 2025, 41 students completed the programme (27 in Coding & Programming, 14 in the AI track), bringing the cumulative total to 145 graduates across the Lerotholi Polytechnic site since 2023. A separate cohort of 23 students also graduated through the National University of Lesotho partnership.
Public reporting to date covers enrolment and completion figures rather than post-programme outcomes such as employment or further study; no independent evaluation of learning gains or job placement was found. As a vendor-funded CSR initiative, its continuity depends on Samsung's ongoing sponsorship rather than institutionalised public funding.
