Context

SPARK Vanuatu brings together Vanuatu's Ministries of Health, Education, and Justice, Youth and Community Services with the Vanuatu Society for People with Disability, UNICEF and ATscale, formally launched in December 2025 with a $1.2 million grant running 2025-2028.

Activities

The programme integrates screening for vision, hearing and mobility needs into health, education and community services and aims to strengthen government procurement and service-delivery capacity beyond the grant period.

Results

It targets reaching more than 3,000 school-aged children over three years, including an estimated 2,050 needing eyeglasses, 340 needing hearing aids and 680 who could benefit from mobility devices; an early case saw an 11-year-old girl from Efate receive an adjustable wheelchair.
