Context
The Turkish Community in Germany (TGD) is a federation of associations founded in 1995 to advance the legal, social and political equality of Turkish and other immigrant communities in Germany, while supporting integration alongside the maintenance of cultural identity. It coordinates work across 9 German federal states through 18 partner associations and 267 affiliated private entities.
Objectives
The portal aims to support the social inclusion of Turkish migrants in German society, shape public opinion on issues affecting the community, and sustain multicultural structures at a national level.
Activities
TGD runs an online communication portal, launched in 2003, offering news, project documentation, panel discussions and commentary on German political affairs relevant to the Turkish community. The site is organised into sections covering general information, position papers ('Theses'), projects, initiatives, press and an interactive area, and TGD also promotes specific educational and training projects.
