Context

In August 2026, Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy and Society launched the 'TH-AI Passport' scheme, operated through the aipass.go.th platform, giving Thai nationals aged 15+ free access to a curated set of premium commercial AI tools using an existing Google, Microsoft or Apple account.

Results

Advance registration opened 19 August 2026 and drew more than 1.3 million sign-ups within under two weeks; the platform went live for registered users on 31 August 2026, giving access to 33 AI models from 14 providers covering image/video generation, music creation, data analytics and coding assistance. The government set a public target of 5 million users; access is billed as free through 31 August 2027, conditional on a minimum monthly usage-points threshold.

Conclusions

As a digital-identity-gated gateway to third-party AI services rather than a bespoke government AI system, TH-AI Passport is best understood as digital public infrastructure for AI access and literacy; no evaluation of usage patterns, dropout rates or measurable skills/economic impact has yet been published.
