Government programme that trained and certified 160,507 Thai educators in ethical AI use, saving 4 hrs/week per teacher, and reaching 3.3 million students across primary, secondary, and vocational levels (Oct 2025–Mar 2026).
Thailand's Ministry of Education, together with OBEC, OVEC, IPST, ETDA and Microsoft Thailand, launched the 'AI for Teachers' initiative in October 2025, running until March 2026, to train and certify educators nationwide in ethical AI use.
To train and certify teachers in integrating AI tools ethically and responsibly into lesson planning, content creation, and classroom management.
National training and certification programme for educators across primary, secondary and vocational levels; an AI Impact Survey of 1,414 respondents was conducted to gauge classroom adoption and effects.
160,507 educators were trained, with 135,560 already certified. The survey found 67.2% of educators actively use AI in their classrooms, saving an average of four hours weekly per teacher (equivalent to 95 full-time teachers freed up annually across the cohort); 76.3% reported increased student engagement, and 88.6% of schools had begun developing internal AI use guidelines. The programme collectively reached 3,326,065 students. A Bangkok case study documented a 30% boost in student engagement when teachers used AI-assisted planning tools.
The collaboration follows Microsoft Thailand's broader commitment to upskill one million Thais in AI by 2026, with education identified as a priority gateway for equitable digital access.
